Unit 16 - Task 2 (Final Version)

Task 2 - Preparing and Editing Music Video

Checking material for faults

I checked for any faults and scrolled through the folder with all the video files and literally checked each video file to see if any were damaged. All of the files were fine and safe, therefor I didn’t have to delete any damaged files which is good.
Synchronising rushes & creating bins
I synchronised the audio files and video files together because it is much easier and accurate. If you play around with the audio and video files, there might be a mismatch leading to some of the videos being out of sync and having the audio behind which would make the video look a bit laggy. Also I have saved all my media files into the bin on the bottom left.

All of my 710 video files have been imported and stored in the media project folder. I have synced the files on my timeline to start the editing process.

Producing a rushes log

Producing a rushes log is very important because they need to be stored otherwise every single time you edit, you would have to re-log it. Doing this every single time you edit would waste a lot of time, so to avoid this unnecessary problem you could just create a rush log which is very beneficial.
Marking up a script / written storyboard
1st scene: Will be a title shot saying “Dubai Holiday” then it will have a black fade transition and I will have my introduction beginning.
2nd scene: I will have loads of clips with no transition, I will only have an audio transition fade from the title to the beginning
3rd scene: will carry on the clip footages and then have a few more fade transitions for the mini break, this is to show that the night has ended and a new day is appearing.
4th scene: Last scene will include the last part of my Dubai holiday and will include audio transitions fading out to the ending song, as well as a fade out transition with the ending and credits.

Labelling tapes

I labelled and named it “Dubai Trip” I feel this is a basic yet effective name. It is a good name for a holiday vlog video. This is going to be a holiday video of my whole exciting time in the famous Dubai.

Edit decision list:

The first beginning of my holiday video will consist of short quick shots. They will roughly be about 5-6 seconds each. This is because the beginning is the start of my holiday where me and my family are actually travelling to Dubai so I think it is a good idea of fast paced shots.

The middle of my video will be a bit longer as this is when we are actually in Dubai hence why the longer shots needed. The reason the shots are longer is because the nice beautiful shots in Dubai need to longer as they are better shots than London.

Last but not least the ending of my video will have quite quick shots again as they will be shots of the desert in Abu Dhabi. It is like a montage so will have many many shots which will be about 3-4 seconds long.

Storing tapes or film

I created a folder on my mac called “Dubai” which has a sub folder called “100CANNON”. These is where all my footage is stored and kept. The files all together are about 30GB, these are high quality and high resolution videos. I also store my adobe premiere pro files in the same folder.

Producing an edit decision list

There was a few ideas of videos I was going to create a food review video but thought of a great idea of just editing all the footage I got and make a holiday vogs

Clarifying the purpose of the work with a client or director

I emailed my client saying what my editing idea is going to be about. I recently went to Dubai and have a lot of footage from that holiday so I decided that I am going to use all that footage and create a little holiday vlog. It will show what living life in Dubai looks like and all its attractions and amazing food.

Prepare to Edit.

Preparing to edit

Importing clip
To start the editing process of my Dubai holiday vlog, I had to import all my footage which is also known as “clips”. I did this by literally dragging all my footage from my duabi folder and dragging it to the media section on adobe premiere pro.
