Task 2b Research


Carry out research into primary sources (contacts and participants, interviews, locations)
For our documentary we will have a main host his name is Trey and he that will be introducing and explaining what is going on and he will also be trying out the food as well as Dianni, Tim and Victor. The locations that we have chosen will be Shoreditch and Walthamstow. Walthamstow will be the location that will be buying some of the food and Shoreditch is where we will be tasting the food, we decided to use Shoreditch because it is a nice area with different art. If for any reason we can't shoot in Shoreditch we have a backup plan to shoot a restaurant near London Bridge as we have contacts in the restaurant that will allow us to shoot if we asked.

The secret of your food is a series on BBC that shows Michael Mosley and James Wong explore the sensations, tastes and flavours in our food from everyday food in the UK and abroad. This is similar to our 3 minute documentary as ours is about tasting different types of food from different types of backgrounds. Oklahoma State Fair has a food judging competition that lets people try out different food and then they get asked different types of questions about the food and what they thought could've been improved and what was the best. A technique that I liked was when the interviewer was questioning questions or the interviewee was describing the food there was cut always of the food and chefs making it.
The Chicken Connoisseur is a guy that goes around to different chicken shops and orders food and then reviews it. The style of the videos is similar to our documentary as it shows him ordering the food and eating it then after he does a review on each thing he ate then rates it out of 5. This is like our documentary accept we will be judging what country makes the better dish and we will also get the public reviews, this YouTube series is also a funny thing to watch and that is the type of documentary that we would like to produce.

Treatment / proposal. You should include: the genre of your factual programme, subject idea, format, style and techniques, target audience, intended aim and budget, interview and contacts appointments;
For this factual programming unit we have been assigned to work in groups and engage and create a three minute documentary video with a entertaining story to tell. We decided to pick are documentary on food as it is a topic that everyone loves and has arguments about. This three minute documentary is called Manden vs food which will be about the manden (Group of men, boys)  trying out different food and giving reviews and also asking other people what country think make the better food. The genre that we are going for is reality and comedy. Our target audience are aged 13 to 25 years old. Based in east London are probably are in College or University. Both male and female and may have a part time job. We picked is target audience as our genre is reality and comedy and anyone too old may not get any on the humor this the documentary. The equipment and resources  that we would need are: DSLR Camera, Tripod, Shotgun mic, Curry Goat Rice, Jollof Rice, Chinese this will cost us around £600 but because we have equipment in college it would not cost anything except for the food which should cost no more than £20. Are main aim is to entertain our audience and get a vote on who has the best jollof rice.  A technique that I we will use is when describing the food there will be cut always of the food and of the people eating it and also give it a rate at the end.
